Nozzles for in-cylinder fuel injection

Abstract

The fuel flow directing surfaces downstream of the contact line 30 between the port 17 and valve head 14 are contoured to blend smoothly with the seats. The surfaces may each comprise two conical surfaces with an arcuate surface therebetween (Figs. 3 and 4). The end of the valve body 10 may have a conical end surface (39, Fig. 2) extending from narrow terminal land 31. The end of the valve head may be aligned with the end of the valve body when the valve is fully open. Dimensions and angles of the surfaces and terminal land are given in the specification. <IMAGE>
